Mechanical Golf 1978
Design a device that will hit a golf ball a distance of 3 feet. The only source of energy that can be used to trigger the device is a rubber band. The golf ball, while traveling on the course, must put out a birthday candle, set off a mousetrap, and end up in a 7 ounce paper cup.

Audio Guidance System 1978
Develop a method to communicate nonverbally between a five-member team. One member of the team will be blindfolded and will be guided by the four remaining members. The blindfolded member will be guided along an irregular path using an audio guidance system. As the blindfolded member passes along the irregular course, he/she will use a "blowgun" to shoot at balloons. The blindfolded member will receive nonverbal signals from the other members.
